2 Seat Spitfire
Everyone knows about the iconic Spitfire, but the 2 seat version is much lesser known. Supermarine planned to make 2 seat Spitfires in 1941 to fast track pilot training. Alas, the RAF were short on single seat Spitfires as it was, so it was decided to shelve the idea and concentrate production on the fighter versions. It was actually Russia that produced the first 2 seat Spitfire for operational use, with Supermarine following suit in 1946. They converted a MkVIII with serial number MT818 and put it on the civil register as G-AIDN. Remarkably, she still flies today from Biggin Hill.
This stylish piece of wall art is precision laser cut from 2mm steel and powder coated to a satin black finish. This provides a durable rust resistant finish so it can be displayed indoors or out. The piece stands away from the wall by 16mm giving an elegant 3D look which casts a silhouette on the wall. Mounting instructions and wall fixings are supplied.
If you wish to personalise your 2 Seat Spitfire with your or a loved ones initials, please select ‘Personalised Initials’ in the ‘Select Detail’ drop down box and fill in the ‘Note/Additional Info’ form at the checkout page
